Lower Grades Academic Program Overview

St. Paul Westlake provides a secure, nurturing environment in which elementary school-age children can learn, explore, experiment, and grow! Our Christian-based programs strive to instill a life-long love of learning and a quest for knowledge among elementary school students from Kindergarten through 4th grade.

Students learn to excel in solving problems, engaging ideas and creating solutions. Our students become active thinkers, makers and explorers of ideas. They accomplish this through academic skill development, imaginative abstract thinking, organization and discipline.

Students are taught in self-contained classrooms with some departmentalization. All elementary students receive daily core class instruction which is supplemented throughout the week with classes in Visual Art, Music, Technology, and Physical Education. Our program incorporates elements of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) into our entire curriculum and students also participate in learning 21st Century skills through our new, dedicated STEAM Lab.

Field trips are used to enhance the curriculum and provide students with practical learning experiences pertaining to units or courses of study.

We also encourage parents to participate in class activities!
